Rehabilitation

The Agricultural Social Insurance Fund, on the strength of Article 64 of the Law on farmers' social insurance, realizes the benefits for rehabilitation, i.e. medical benefits of sending the insured to the KRUS farmers' rehabilitation centers.
The aim of rehabilitation realized by the Fund is prevention of disability or limitation of the degree of incapacity to work on the farm so far as to make this work possible to practice. Rehabilitation is taken up in direct connection with attending a patient, in the best time, range and place for treatment, in accordance with medical indications, always as a result of the insured person's own decision.
The benefit for rehabilitation may be granted as a result of preventive (prophylactic) indications if the insured person is threatened with loss of capacity to work on the farm or as a result of restitutive (reparable) indications if this person has lost capacity to work on the farm but, in consequence of further treatment and rehabilitation, is expected to recover from it.
The benefit for rehabilitation may be granted to the person who meets the following conditions:

is entitled to the KRUS benefits,
has not turned 55 (female) and 60 (male),
is able to live by one-self.

The benefit for rehabilitation is granted on application of the doctor who determines the indications for rehabilitation. The insured person files this application, according to permanent residence, in the KRUS regional branch or in the local office. The doctors entitled to make the application for the rehabilitation benefit are the doctors from the communal health service centers and other doctors attending farmers in the public health care system. The doctors-experts and medical boards examining patients in order to establish a right to disability pension are also entitled to make this application. The costs of rehabilitation, indicated to the insured persons who are qualified and sent by KRUS to the centers, are covered as a whole by the Fund. Every year, over 14,000 farmers are sent to rehabilitation centers. Now, the Fund sends farmers to its own health care centers. Rehabilitation Centers in Iwonicz Zdrój, Horyniec Zdrój, Szklarska Poręba, Jedlec, Kołobrzeg and Centers in Swinoujcie and Teresin.

The KRUS rehabilitation centers are modern health care institutions. They provide a high level of medical service as well as rest and recreation. They offer the treatment base with modern equipment. The programme of treatment rehabilitation, i.e. range and number of treatments, is established individually for every visitor, according to the doctor's indications. The fixed period of a stay in the center lasts 21 days. It is possible to prolong a stay in justifiable case. Visits to the centers are organized all the year round. The rehabilitation centers provide a twenty-four hour medical and nursing care. Rooms have separate sanitary arrangements, TV-sets, telephones and alarm system.
As far as possible, the KRUS Centers offer their services to every interested person on condition of payment.
The Fund, creating the system of treatment rehabilitation for rural population, has recognized the necessity of continuing rehabilitation in the local health service centers. In consequence, the Fund assists those centers to organize treatment rooms and provide them with rehabilitation equipment.

The KRUS Farmers' Rehabilitation Center in Iwonicz Zdrój

Iwonicz Zdrój, one of the oldest health resorts in Poland, is situated at the border of Beskid Niski, in the valley of Iwonicki Creek. The KRUS Farmers' Rehabilitation Center (CRR) is placed in a 6 floor building; there are single and double rooms for 150 visitors. The meals are served in accordance with individual diet prescriptions. Among others, there are also sauna, swimming-pool and cafe.

The Center has specialized in rehabilitation of the locomotion system diseases (especially in the field of orthopaedics, rheumatology and neurology), insufficiency of lower limbs arteries and catarrh of upper airways. The Center's own treatment base offers kinesitherapy, physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, massages and others.

The KRUS Farmers Rehabilitation Center in Jedlec

The KRUS Farmers' Rehabilitation Center in Jedlec (Wielkopolskie Voivodship) is surrounded by forests. The visitors live in the hotel rooms and bungalows provided with bathroom, telephone, radio and TV-set. There are tennis courts, fitness room, cinema room and cafe. The Center has specialized in rehabilitation of the locomotion system diseases. The treatment cabinets offer kinesitherapy, physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, paraffin therapy, massages and inhalations. The Center offers accommodation for 84 visitors.

The KRUS Farmers' Rehabilitation Center NIWA in Kołobrzeg

The town of Kołobrzeg, in Zachodniopomorskie Voivodship, is the biggest Polish seaside resort. The local climate is strongly stimulating. The air, particularly on the beach, contains aerosol composed of salt and iodine, which is favourable for health. The KRUS Farmers' Rehabilitation Center NIWA is situated in the attractive part of the town, in the distance of 200 m from the beach. The visitors live in single, double and triple rooms (accommodation for 318 visitors). There are sauna, solarium, mini-golf and cafe.
The Center has specialized in rehabilitation of the locomotion system diseases. The local microclimate is particularly wholesome for patients who suffer from the circulatory system diseases, especially from chronic heart ischaemia, arterial hypertension and bronchial asthma. The treatment cabinets offer kinesitherapy, physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, paraffin therapy, massages and inhalations.

The KRUS Farmers' Rehabilitation Center in Horyniec Zdrój

Horyniec Zdrój is a resort situated in Podkarpackie Voivodship. Its treatment tradition goes back to the XVIII Century. It is especially famous for sulfide waters and rich treatment mud deposits. The KRUS Center is located in a modern building with accommodation for 250 persons in single and double rooms. The Center offers billiard room, cafe. and reading room. It has specialized in rehabilitation of the locomotion system diseases (also after a disc's operation) by means of kinesitherapy, hydrotherapy, physiotherapy, massages and others. The soft climate of Horyniec is also wholesome for patients who suffer from arterial hypertension.

The KRUS Farmers' Rehabilitation Center in Szklarska Poręba

The Center is located at the base of Karkonosze Mountains in the Jeleniogórska Valley (Dolnośląkie Voivodship). It is situated in a modern 8-floor building. It offers accommodation for 150 persons in single and double rooms. The Center also offers a swimming pool, sauna, tennis courts, bowling alley and cinema room. It has specialized in rehabilitation of the locomotion system diseases. The treatment cabinets offer kinesitherapy with exercises in the swimming-pool; hydrotherapy with brine, galvanic, needle bath and showers and hydromassage; light and electrotherapy with ionophoresis, diadynamic, electrostimulation, galvanization, interference currents, ultrasounds, shortwave diathermy, magnetotron; and parafin treatment.

The KRUS Recreation and Rehabilitation Center in Swinoujście

Swinoujście, in Zachodniopomorskie Voivodship, is a famous seaside resort. Its climate is the softest marine climate on the Polish coast. The Center is located in a 3-floor building surrounded by a large park, in the distance of 150 m from the sea. Accommodation for 90 persons in double and triple rooms. There are also sauna and café. The Center has specialized in rehabilitation of the locomotion system diseases. The treatment cabinets offer kinesitherapy, physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, paraffin treatment, massages and inhalations.

The KRUS Training and Rehabilitation Center in Teresin

The Center in Teresin, in Mazowieckie Voivodship, is located in a beautiful palace from the XIX century, built in baroque style. It is surrounded by forest and park with the precious individuals of old trees called the nature's monuments. The oldest oaks are 230-265 years old. The most extraordinary individuals are the 105 years old tulip tree and the 145 years old hickory.
The Center offers accommodation for 55 visitors in elegantly furnished hotel rooms.
